Personally, I just find that using a rice cooker or cooking rice on the stovetop usually takes too long. My go-to recipe for plain white rice is this easy microwave version. All you need is some gravy on top or use it in dishes that call for cooked white rice.
Microwave White Rice
1 cup Parboiled Rice or Long Grain White Rice
2 cups Water
--Stir ingredients in a microwave safe bowl and cover.
--Microwave on High for 5 minutes
--Do Not open the cover. Microwave on 50% power for 17 minutes if using Parboiled Rice or for 15 minutes on 50% power if using Regular Long Grain White Rice
**I prefer using Parboiled Rice. It has a more fluffy texture than regular long grain rice.
