Microwave Chocolate-Covered Strawberries Recipe

Do you love chocolate-covered strawberries but dislike paying the high price for them? Don’t worry. You can easily whip up your own chocolate-covered strawberries at home using just your microwave. It's fine if yours don’t look like they were made by a professional candy maker; they'll still be just as tasty and perfect for taking to a family gathering.

Ingredients:

  • Strawberries

  • Chocolate chips (I prefer Nestlé Milk Chocolate Chips)

  • Crisco All-Vegetable Shortening or refined coconut oil

-Wash the strawberries, leaving the stems on, and let them dry.

-Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.

-Pour 12 oz of chocolate chips into a glass microwave-safe bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of Crisco All-Vegetable Shortening or refined coconut oil. Note: Crisco melts smoother and doesn’t impart a coconut taste, but may not be as healthy.

-Microwave for 1 minute and stir. Continue microwaving in 30-second intervals, stirring until the chocolate chips are melted and smooth. Use caution not to burn the chocolate.

-Quickly dip the strawberries in the chocolate and place them on the parchment paper-lined sheet pan. Once finished, place the sheet pan with the chocolate-covered strawberries in the freezer or refrigerator until the chocolate hardens.

-Store chocolate-covered strawberries in a covered bowl in the refrigerator.

Note: If the chocolate hardens while dipping the strawberries, place it in the microwave and heat in 15-second intervals, stirring until it’s melted and smooth again.

This recipe can also work with orange slices, pretzels, and marshmallows.

Perfect for work or school lunch boxes too!
