School is back in session, and it’s time to pack lunches. Here are five easy lunchbox ideas to make your lunch planning simpler.
I enjoy packing leftovers whenever possible; it’s a good way to use them up and provide a hearty meal for a long school day. This lunch includes leftover spaghetti, turkey and cheese pinwheels, cucumbers, strawberries, blueberries, and watermelon. Although the watermelon is not in season, it was bought precut in a container from the produce section, and there were no complaints about it.
Sandwiches are a convenient choice for quick school lunches. This lunchbox includes a turkey sandwich, cucumbers, a fruit bowl with apples, strawberries, blueberries, and canned mandarin oranges, as well as dates with peanut butter. The apples are pre-sliced from the produce department. Note: Some schools may have peanut-free policies.
This lunchbox includes a chicken wrap made with leftover rotisserie chicken, a boiled egg, a fruit bowl with grapes, blueberries, and strawberries, cucumbers, blackberries, and Pirates Booty. The blackberries came back home, but that’s okay; sometimes I enjoy adding new foods to try in lunch boxes.
This lunchbox features another turkey and cheese sandwich, fresh corn cut off the cob, diced apples, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, and cucumbers. It’s a great option to beat the midweek slump.
This lunchbox contains macaroni and cheese in the thermos, ham, kiwi, grapes, blueberries, and chocolate-covered strawberries. The macaroni and cheese was cooked in the crockpot, but sometimes I opt for Bob Evans microwaveable macaroni and cheese!
You may have noticed a pattern with the same fruit options daily. My kids enjoy grapes, strawberries, blueberries, and apples and don’t mind having them often for lunch. I would suggest making a list of your kids’ favorite foods and rotating them weekly in their lunch boxes. It can make planning school lunches easier.
