If you live in Lexington County, you can sign up for Emergency Alerts specific to your location. The following information was taken from Lexington County’s CodeRED website.
The County uses CodeRED to send EMERGENCY notifications by phone, email, text, and social media to keep citizens informed of emergencies such as evacuation notices, severe weather, utility outages, water main breaks, fires, floods, chemical spills, or other emergency situations.
The County may also use CodeRED to send GENERAL notifications to registered subscribers about non-life safety matters, such as voter registration, planned road closures, water main repairs, and water or power service interruptions.
If you are currently a CodeRED subscriber who has registered your mobile phone to receive notifications from the County, you can download the app to receive alerts on your smartphone anywhere in the country, including Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Alaska. With the CodeRED Mobile Alert app, the nation’s most downloaded public safety notification app, OnSolve enables subscribers to receive notifications directly on their mobile devices, whether at home, on the road, or traveling across the country. These mobile push notifications deliver relevant, location-based alerts based on GPS data, ensuring you receive critical information when you are in a CodeRED client’s jurisdiction.
We signed up years ago and have been very pleased with the timely notifications on thunder storms, tornado warnings, and more.
