COLUMBIA MARIONETTE THEATER

Saturday, December 23, at 11am & 3pm Columbia Marionette Theatre, 401 Laurel St, Columbia presents ‘Santa’s Swingin’ Christmas Party’ A Holiday variety show with live music and puppets. A unique creative collaboration with Cola Jazz Foundation. Tinkle the elf is too young to work in Santa’s Workshop, but that won’t stop him from making his first toy: a Patchwork stuffed animal named Lumpy. When Lumpy doesn’t make it onto Santa’s sleigh, they go on an adventure to find where they belong. Vivid puppets illuminated by blacklight and a live jazz quartet really bring the swing in this musical celebration. $10 for ages 2 and up. Tickets sold at the door cmtpuppet.org

SUMMIT ADVENTURE

Summit Adventure, 2245 Charleston Hwy, Cayce is an indoor trampoline park with jumping space and activities that range from regular jumping to dodgeball and basketball dunking. 90 minute pass for $19, 120 minute pass for $21, and an all day pass for $26. FLIGHT ADVENTURE PARK

Flight Adventure, 1019 Broad Stone Rd, Irmo is an indoor park with trampolines, foam pits, an arcade, bounce house court, and a full ice skate rink. Open jump 60 minutes $19, Open jump 90 minutes $23, Open jump 120 minutes $26, Super Ticket All Day Pass $31. Prices vary when adding attractions. Membership levels vary in price. FREE STATE PARK PASSES

Check out a FREE State Park Pass at any county library in South Carolina (other states might offer this too—I believe Georgia still does) with a free library card. A State Park Pass gives you free entry to all 47 state parks in South Carolina for everyone in your vehicle. Some state parks have trails to hike, fishing, lakes, rivers, and more.


CAYCE FARMER‘S MARKET

Cayce Farmer’s Market, 2329 Charleston Hwy, Cayce. Take your kids to the Farmer’s Market to learn about fruits, vegetables, and plants. It’s a win-win situation. The kids will learn and you can get your produce for the week. Maybe the kids can pick a fruit or vegetable out to try and help you prepare it at home too. The Cayce Farmer’s Market carries a full line of FRESH fruits and vegetables, as well as, many other specialty, local made honeys, jellies and jams, pickled vegetables, fudge and old-fashioned candy. SALUDA SHOALS

Enter at the 5605 Bush River Rd entrance or the 6071 St. Andrews Rd, Columbia entrance next to Leo’s Landing. You can spend all day in this park. There is something for everyone here. Leo’s Landing Inclusive Playground, a smaller playground by the splash pad, picnic shelters, boat ramps/canoe/kayak launch, river observation deck, ten miles of paved and unpaved trails, 18-hole disc golf course, Saluda Shoals Wetland Preserve, barking lot dog park (membership required), the Courts Tennis Complex, and more. Daily admission is $5/car or minivan, $7/12+ passenger van, $11/bus. Annual passes are $60/year. Barking Lot and Fisherman’s Pass have additional fees. JC’S LEXINGTON BOWL

JC’s Lexington Bowl, 5380 Augusta Rd, Lexington. SWAN LAKE IRIS GARDENS

Swan Lake Iris Gardens is South Carolina’s largest FREE Christmas Light Display. Located at 822 W Liberty Street, Sumter, SC. The event is designed to be a drive-through, but visitors are allowed to park to take pictures with the lights.

Santa’s Village is located at the Swan Lake Iris Gardens Heath Pavilion. Kids can write letters to Santa and take pictures with Santa (bring your own camera) and the entire family can enjoy a variety of holiday music and entertainment each night—all activities for free. CHRISTMAS HORSE CAMP AT HIDDEN CREEK STABLES

Hidden Creek Stables, 1122 Rawl Rd, Lexington is having a Christmas Horse Camp from 10am-2pm on Thursday, December 21 and Friday, December 22. Activities include Christmas crafts, horse rides, bounce houses, games, and more. Kids must bring their own lunch. Snacks will be provided. $75/kid. Must message on their Facebook page to RSVP. CAYCE RIVERWALK

Cayce Riverwalk, 201 Naples Ave, Cayce has more than 20 miles of riverwalk and trails. It is a popular destination for walking, jogging, bicycling, bird-watching, and picnicking. The bridges, boardwalks, overlooks and lighted, central path accommodate all levels of physical abilities. Visitors enjoy free parking and lighted, paved paths through the shaded, riverine forest, studded with benches, picnic tables, and public art by local artisans along with wide, wooden boardwalks with prime water views. Open daily from dusk to dawn.


EDVENTURE

EdVenture, 211 Gervais St, Columbia offers interactive, hands-on exhibits such as Dalmatian Station, MedVenture, The Great Outdoors, World of Work, Flight, Aha Factory Maker Space, My Backyard Toddler Area, Busy Bee Farm & Garden, Celebration Circle, and more.

$13/person, Children under two are free. Membership levels are $149-259/year. Families who receive SNAP/TANF/WIC benefits receive $3 admission per person with proof of benefits and ID. (Up to 6 people who live in the benefit recipient’s household.)

SOUTH CAROLINA STATE MUSEUM

South Carolina State Museum, 301 Gervais St, Columbia

Explore four floors of permanent and changing exhibitions, see a Planetarium show, and a 4D Show with blasts of air, vibrating seats, smells, ankle ticklers, and real life sensations.

General Admission is $8.95/adult, $7.95/Senior ages 62+, $6.95/child ages 3-12. Planetarium and 4D Shows have an additional charge. —The first Sunday of every month General Admission is $1. There is an additional charge for the Planetarium Show and/or 4D Theater Movie.

—Each month the SC State Museum offers an Accessibility Morning for free for families of children, teenagers, young adults, and adults who would benefit from a quieter, sensory-friendly, and disability-adapted experience. An ASL Interpreter will also be available. Sensory friendly shows will alternate monthly between planetarium and 4D theater experiences. The next date is Saturday, January 13, 2024 —General Admission for SNAP, EBT, WIC, And Medicaid benefits guests is $2. Guests may present their EBT/WIC card or proof of Medicaid with a valid form of photo ID at the Admission Desk to receive the discount for up to four individuals in the household. Homeschool General Admission is free for one adult, who is the designated teacher and the students. 4D and Planetarium shows are $3 each. Out of state homeschool teachers, students, and chaperones are $5 for general admission and $3 for each 4D and Planetarium show. Proof must be shown along with matching ID.

EUDORA WILDLIFE SAFARI PARK

Eudora Wildlife Safari Park, 219 Salem Lane, Salley, SC

View and feed exotic animals from around the world on the 3 mile drive through safari from the comfort of your own vehicle. There is also an enclosed petting zoo area, along with a Parakeet Adventure where parakeets make their dwelling, giraffes, kangaroos, gift shop, food, and picnic areas for purchased or packed food. RIVERBANKS ZOO & GARDEN
