Reduced Admission For Homeschoolers at Bee City Zoo

Updated: Feb 5

On March 6th and 7th, Bee City Zoo is extending a discounted rate of $7 per person to homeschool children and their parents. Ages 2 and under are free. This special event celebrates education, promotes community support, and ensures accessible learning experiences for every child.

Bee City Zoo is a hands-on interactive zoo that allows guests to get up close, pet, and feed some animals. It’s a favorite of ours! Guests can hand-feed monkeys, ringtail lemurs, alpacas, deer, goats, sheep, and pet bunnies. Guests will also encounter wallabies, antelope, tigers, snow leopards, serval cats, cavies, as well as many farm animals such as miniature horses and donkeys, turkeys, chickens, pheasants, and much more.

Guests can purchase food to feed certain animals. Please note that animals cannot be fed food from home, as that is a federal violation. All animal food must be purchased at the zoo. Additionally, guests have the option to book a Private Animal Encounter while at the zoo. Giraffe feeding schedules vary daily.

Bee City Zoo began with a love of honeybees and a passion for educating people about their importance. They offer a variety of honey and beeswax products, including pure raw honey, creamed honey, honey mustard, honey butter, beeswax lotions/skin cream, lip balms, soaps, candles, and many beeswax figurines. Bee City Zoo is dedicated to educating the public about the significance of honey bees, the art of beekeeping, and the process of harvesting honey.

You have the option to pack a lunch or purchase one at the Bee City Cafe. If you plan to dine at the cafe, please check its operating hours online before your visit. Picnic tables are provided for those with packed lunches, or you can choose to eat at your vehicle. Don't forget to bring your own water bottles for the day!

Givhans Ferry State Park is just 5 minutes away from Bee City Zoo, providing another option for your day visit to the area. If you enjoy camping and want to stay overnight, there are sites available for reservation at a fee, along with cabins for rent. Situated along the Edisto River, the longest free-flowing black water river in North America, Givhans Ferry State Park offers activities such as kayaking, trails, fishing, and seasonally, tubing.
